Earlier this summer Atlanta-based fashion brand Mifland dropped soccer-inspired pieces into their latest collection. Dubbing it Mifland FC, the brand is leaning into the growing popularity of the sport in North America and it’s continued popularity in the fashion space.

“As soccer becomes more popular in the US, Mifland can play a key role in showing how the sport is more than just a game—it’s a whole lifestyle. It’s about blending fashion, culture, and community.” Says Rashid Alarape, who runs digital marketing for the brand. “Our jerseys are a great way to introduce people to this lifestyle, combining the spirit of soccer with a sense of style that speaks to those who appreciate both.”

However, the team decided to go a step further by partnering with Puma to organize The Mifland Cup, a pickup soccer tournament in Atlanta, in order to foster a local community around the brand and sport.

The Mifland Cup is a tournament created to deepen the brand’s connection with soccer and drive the sport’s growth. This year’s event featured the two new jerseys from the Mifland 2024 FC collection, alongside their iconic “Million M” jersey from previous years. The tournament also marks the beginning of Mifland’s expansion into more community building, with plans to host the event multiple times throughout the year, bringing the excitement of the game and the brand to a broader audience.

“The idea for this tournament came from seeing other brand-led events in the UK, like the Santan Cup by rapper Dave and New Balance,” explains Alarape. “These events had different teams wearing unique jerseys, creating a cool mix of sports and fashion. We saw this as a chance to showcase our own jerseys in a real sporting environment, bringing them to life in a way that feels exciting and fresh.”

“Hosting events like our tournament is a great way to get more people involved with the Mifland brand by offering them something different,” says Alarape. “When people take part, they’re not just wearing our gear; they’re having a memorable experience with us. This builds a stronger connection that goes beyond just the clothing and helps create a community around shared passions for sports, fashion, and culture.”
