GYASI ZARDES ON THE ADIDAS ALPHABOUNCE REFLECTIVE

The alphabounce has quietly made significant waves for adidas in the wake of the massive success of the UltraBOOST. Never resting on their laurels, The Three Stripes continue to turn the wheel with the new alphabounce Reflective, which sees adidas tie back the color and add some brilliant reflective accents for the athlete that wants to be seen. We recently had the opportunity to briefly talk with one of the alphabounce Reflective’s feature athletes, Gyasi Zardes. The LA Galaxy stalwart told us about the role the alphabounce Reflective plays in his training, style and even how the shoes helped in his comeback from a big injury.

KTTP: What can you tell us about the new alphabounce reflective?

Gyasi Zardes: I recently shot a campaign for the shoes and I really love them, They’re so comfortable and versatile. I can train with them and I can wear them out and about.

KTTP: How big of a role do the shoes play in your training?

GZ: They play a huge roll. I had to come back from bad injury where I broke my foot towards the end of last season. As soon as I put my feet in the alphabounce Reflective I had the confidence to come back and train hard. They were very comfortable and performed so well. In most of my shoes, I have to wear orthotics but not with the alphabounce.

KTTP: You talked a little bit about the casual aspect of the shoes. You’re someone that likes to stand out especially with your off pitch style. Tell us more about how you incorporate the alphabounce Reflective into your style.

GZ: It’s true, they look good with a lot of different things. I wear them all the time on dates with my wife. It’s actually kind of cool, we live near Manhattan Beach and there’s a lot of pedestrians walking around at night. So when cars drive around their lights reflect off the shoes. Not only do they make me stand out but they keep me safe too (laughs). So they serve as fashion and function.

KTTP: You’re an adidas athlete,  can you tell us more about the current climate of soccer culture as it pertains to the brand? Adi is doing so well in blending lifestyle with soccer and vice versa.

GZ: It’s great! You’re really starting to see people wear cool and unique sneakers that come from the soccer world. Especially with shoes like the Nemeziz, which I love and own a couple pair. So obviously I love it and adidas is doing a great job on all fronts of making stylish shoes for function and style.

The new adidas alphabounce Reflective drops in three colorways for men (black, silver and tan) and two colorways for women (black and tan). All are available now at adidas.com
