Nike has revealed the Air Mercurial Tn and supporting collection, which sees the Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly IX and the Air Max Plus OG lining up alongside one another in uniform “Volt Purple/Total Orange” colorways that acknowledge the sneaker’s heritage. And it didn’t take Kylian Mbappe long to slip on the former, with the PSG star sporting the new special edition release during a recent training session.

The Nike Air Max Plus marked its 25th anniversary in 2023 with various special releases, including a collaboration with F.C. Barcelona and Patta Culers del Món. The OG ‘Voltage Purple’ colorway of the Tuned Air design is making a reappearance in 2024 after being announced in October, and this collection pays respect to the classic style’s terrace beginnings.

The collection combines the iconic design of the Air Max with the silhouette of the Nike Mercurial Superfly, with the wavy aesthetic seen in purple and black on both pairs of footwear. A major change for the Superfly is the replacement of the Tn from the trainer on the boot’s sole plate and liner with a Zm.

The trainer is made of ‘Voltage Purple’ mesh and is enclosed in a glossy black cage. A ‘Total Orange’ Swoosh runs through the lateral and medial sides, and this eye-catching accent extends to the classic hexagonal emblems on the tongue and heel. The mudguards are wrapped in smooth leather, and the extra thick midsole is imbued with Air Max technology, exactly like the original from 1998.
