Our favorite MLS Club x Skate Brand collabs
Each year MLS clubs seem to have a systemized collaboration strategy, with teams collaborating with local brands in a particular industry segment, the past couple of seasons being Skate brands.
It’s an interesting strategy, but in a single entity league like MLS where all the teams are franchises owned by the league I can see this bulk strategy being an easy “catch all” way to push some of the mid to lower profile franchises into cool local collaborations that they probably would not have done on their own.
We reviewed all of the MLS x Skate collabs to date and pulled out a few of our favorites:
Austin FC x No Comply
Austin FC, in collaboration with adidas Skateboarding and the famous Austin skate store No Comply, unveiled a fresh new No Comply x Austin FC gear and clothing range. Inspired by ’90s soccer kits and the continuing links between sport and skate style, the capsule commemorates the convergence of soccer and skate culture with designs that speak to both skaters and soccer fans.
New England Revs x Orchard
The New England Revs teamed up with iconic local skate shop Orchard for a capsule consisting of The vegan Samba ADV which is made from animal friendly synthetic suede and leather, and a long sleeved jersey made from 100% recycled polyester. Both items have tonal navy stripes, and subtle pops of red tie things together with scarlet heel pull tabs and raglan piping. A perforated tongue adds a unique design element while improving breathability, and a transparent navy outsole provides a modern touch on this timeless design.
LA Galaxy x DGK
The LA Galaxy and DGK have collaborated on six projects to date. The latest was this past July when they dropped the Retrograde Skate Deck. This exclusive partnership seamlessly blends the worlds of skateboarding and soccer with an LA heritage flare. So exclusive, it was only available for one day – game day.
Charlotte FC x Black Sheep
The newest collab on the list comes from Charlotte FC and Black Sheep Skating which features a collared jersey in CFC colors including the Black Sheep logo and Black Sambas with blue gradient stripes.
