How Jose Tellez is Amplifying Soccer Content Creators with Golz TV
Multi-hyphenate Creative, Forty-One Co-founder
Jose Tellez, founder of the soccer-focused video platform Golz TV, doesn’t just want to stream the game—he wants to transform how fans experience it. With roots in Dallas, a background at Amazon, and a deep love for the beautiful game, Tellez is channeling his passion into a platform that amplifies creators, celebrates community, and brings authenticity to the forefront of soccer media.
Born Into the Beautiful Game
For Tellez, soccer isn’t just a sport; it’s a legacy. Growing up in a household where conversations revolved around FC Barcelona and the latest La Liga results, he inherited a love for the game that’s impossible to shake. “I’m part of a dying generation of fans who were born into it,” Tellez shares. “Growing up, soccer wasn’t a big topic here in the U.S. People talked about the NBA or NFL, but soccer was in my DNA.”
Tellez played competitively through his youth and college years until an injury sidelined him. But even as he transitioned into the corporate world, eventually joining Amazon, his love for soccer never waned. It was during the pandemic that the idea for Golz TV took shape.
The Light Bulb Moment
“I broke COVID protocol so many times just to watch games,” Tellez admits with a laugh. “But once the game was over, my friends and I realized we didn’t have a space to keep the conversation going. YouTube had content, sure, but it was fragmented, and American voices in soccer were few and far between.”
This gap became the foundation for Golz TV—a platform to showcase soccer creators, unite fans, and build a community where the game is more than just highlights. Tellez drew inspiration from platforms like Netflix and Reddit, blending on-demand content with community-driven engagement.
Golz TV: A Platform for the Next Generation
Golz TV aims to meet fans where they are, especially the younger generation consuming sports through creators rather than traditional pundits. “Legacy media leans on former players and surface-level aggregation,” Tellez explains. “We’re focusing on authenticity and giving a platform to the creators shaping the future of the game.”
The platform has already partnered with clubs like Indy Eleven and the USL Championship, with plans to expand into women’s soccer—a space Tellez sees as rapidly growing. “The stories coming from the women’s game right now are incredible, and we want to be part of that movement,” he says.
What’s Next for Golz TV?
Big things are on the horizon. In December, Golz TV is launching a mobile app, making the platform more accessible to its growing audience. Exclusive, original content is also a priority, including an upcoming series led by a prominent former USMNT player.
Looking ahead to the 2026 World Cup, Tellez sees Golz TV not just as a digital platform but as a bridge to real-world experiences. “By 2026, we want to take the online fandom and make it tangible—live events, meetups, and opportunities for fans to connect with their favorite creators in person,” he reveals.
Building a Legacy
For Tellez, Golz TV isn’t just about streaming content; it’s about building a community and creating a space where fans feel seen and heard. “Creators and fans are at the heart of every decision we make,” he says. “If you’ve ever enjoyed watching someone passionately talk about this game, you’ll love what we’re building.”
As soccer continues to rise in North America, Golz TV is staking its claim as the go-to platform for fans and creators alike, proving that the beautiful game is just as much about the stories off the pitch as it is about the action on it.
