PITCHSIDE: USMNT v JAM WORLD CUP QUALIFIER | THE NEXT GEN IS FOCUSED
THE NEXT GEN OF THE USMNT LOOKS FOCUSED…
If there was on take away from the USMNT World Cup Qualifier vs. Jamaica in Austin, TX on Oct 7th was that the team looked “focused.” It was a team lead by a new crop of leaders, stars and role players. Tyler Adams & Weston McKennie dictating the pace in the midfield, Walker Zimmerman holding down the ship in the back line, Brendan Aaronson moving with confidence, Sergino Dest making everyone wonder if he should play in a more advanced role more often, Antonee Robinson showing his poise and experienced gained in England, Ricardo Pepi continuing to score goals, and both Yunus Musah & Timothy Weah giving everyone a glimpse of what could be. It is no exaggeration, the team looked dialed in. It was a stark contrast to the Jamaican team, who to my disappointment looked a bit lost.
If the USMNT can step into the next WCQ against Mexico with the same confidence and focus, it will be something to watch and “focus” on.
